A professional sportswriter and editor with more than 30 years experience, David has written for newspapers throughout the southeast United States. He graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in mass communicatons and began his career in Florida in 1975 (Naples Daily News, St. Petersburg Times). He later moved to Mississippi (Jackson Clarion-Ledger) before landing in Louisiana (Monroe Morning World and News-Star, Baton Rouge Advocate, Alexandria Town Town Talk). He now works as a freelance writer and editor with his stories appearing in such publications as Lindy's SEC Football Annual and NFLHS.com. He also writes a weekly column on LSU athletics for newspapers in Louisiana.

David was voted the 2000 Louisiana Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. He authored a book on LSU football entitled Fighting Tigers Handbook and served as a voting member for The Associated Press Top 25 in football, as well as for numerous college football postseason honors, including the Heisman Trophy and Lombardi Award.

He has covered many of the major sporting events throughout the United States, including Super Bowls, Final Fours, college national football championships, College World Series and postseason bowl games ranging from the Sugar Bowl and Capital One Bowl to the Gator Bowl and Cotton Bowl.

In an 18-year career at the Baton Rouge Advocate, he covered the New Orleans Saints of the NFL and all aspects of LSU athletics. He was assistant sports editor after having served as sports editor of the Monroe Morning World and News-Star. Along with his wife, Carol, he published his own monthly sports magazine for a year entitled MoorSports, which reported on the sports scene in Baton Rouge, LA.

David has interviewed some of the most well-known sports stars of the past 30-plus years, including NFL standouts Joe Montana, Jerry Rice and Walter Payton. Peyton Manning was in grade school when he played in the locker room while David interviewed Peyton's father and then-New Orleans Saints quarterback Archie Manning. Acclaimed NBA center Shaquille O'Neal was a freshman at LSU when David first interviewed O'Neal.

One of David's most memorable interviews invovled current California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was then a body builder and actor lending his expertise at the 1983 International Special Olympics. David found Arnold in a classroom on the LSU campus and was struck by how Arnold showed such care and patience in brining overwhelming joy to severely handicapped children as they lifted weights with Arnold's help and encouragement.

David brings this rich and extensive sports background to Suite 101 in the hopes that his readers can share in his insights and enjoy his words.
